Eredita

Last year, I was lucky enough to pullout extraordinary accessories from a very talented and fabulous Cebu-based accessory designer, Jamie Zanoria, to showcase in a shoot. These pieces are so delicate and statement-making that it could stand out on their own, so I made it a point that the models' outfits should be minimal, if not nude. These are actually some of Jamie's competition pieces as she joined the Cebu Young Designer's Competition- Accessories Category last year. Titled "Eredita"(heritage), the collection stood out in the competition and wowed audiences and fashion enthusiasts like Cebu socialite Margie Lhuillier. Inspired by the Philippine literature, the collection showcased a lot of indigenous materials locally found such as seeds, feathers, shells, locally produced fabrics, and framed sea urchins' shells that unbelievably pulled the collection together and was modernized by the use of metal plates, crystals and gems. Though it didn't make it as the winner, the collection left a loud and new point of view to aspiring designers like me as Jamie's unique design aesthetic is clearly visible in this collection.

The Kritique: Heads down to an amazing talent that only a few like Jamie Zanoria possess. Working with indigenous materials found in nature and making it work to create a statement is surely breathtaking.
