Kritiqued: Roberto Cavalli F/W 2012

Each season I never wanna miss the Roberto Cavalli collection, the brand is known for their chic, sexy, elegant and glamorous animal print dresses. Playing with textures, prints and fabrics, each collection never fails to impress fashion enthusiasts all over the fashion universe. Their show is usually magical that will trigger your senses and makes you think that you are in another world, a world Mr. Cavalli himself creates. I remember the jungle-like show they created for S/S 2011, with big leaves as background, the models gracing the runway felt like pixies and magical creatures in sexy layers. Spectacular indeed.

This year for fall, they did a more playful and fashion forward version of their famed design aesthetic. One of the best collection Cavalli has ever had by far, exceeding their own milestones and setting a new standard for themselves . Opened by Magda Laguinge, in a fur bubble skirt topped by an embellished shirt that almost felt like some jewel toned snakeskin, the show's feel was so outlandish with models gracing the tiger-patterned floral runway and mixed animal prints and patterns visible in the intricate details of each piece put together perfectly to create a statement. Texture is the key trend of this collection, mixing prints with leather, mousseline, sequins and rhinestone embellishments. Also, some breathtaking techniques were seen on the collection like layers of tiers and ruffles, bubble skirts made up of fur that was pieced together like feathers and intricate and dense beading that depicts almost a new kind of reptile skin. The show was closed by Naomi Campbell nonetheless who looked stunning as ever and concluded another spectacular show from Cavalli.

From the moment I landed an eye to the Cavalli collection, I can definitely say this will be a big hit next season. Another must-have collection for fashionistas out there. Here are some pieces from the Cavalli F/W 2012 collection. Enjoy

Kritiqued: Oscars 2012

Best Dressed:

 1.)
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab dress, Edie Parker Flavia nude mica clutch and Jacob & Co. jewelry.
I was like watching the Oscars live streaming yesterday when i saw glimpses of Milla caught on camera. I saw the hair and the red lips and the exaggerated right shoulder pads and i was stunned by the aura even just seeing the top of the dress. Absolutely stunning!!!!!!

2.)
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton coral peplum dress, Bottega Veneta blush crocodile knot purse, Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Strass gold shoes and Forevermark jewelry.

Say young, fresh and sophisticated and Michelle just has it all. Playing with colors and still keeping it pulled together and appropriate is Michelle's game this awards season. Gracing the red carpet with unexpectedly glamorous numbers making her one of the celebrities to look forward to seeing every red carpet event. Kudos to the stylist!

3.)
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford dress, Jimmy Choo Koko platform sandals and Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie Hearts of Winter cuff bracelet; Duchess Hibiscus ring.

Elegance and glamor in one stunning tailored Tom Ford number keeping it dressed-up with minimal accessories=PERFECTION

4.)
Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli fuchsia gown, Louis Vuitton jewelry and Brian Atwood Karin fuchsia satin platforms.
Fuchsia is perfect with Emma's color and the bow just leads all attention to her face. Keeping it all dressy in minimal accessories and pulled-back hair. Princess indeed.

5.)
Stacy Keibler in Marchesa gold lame off-the-shoulder column draped gown (F/W 12 collection),  Judith Leiber clutch, Judith Leiber clutch, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
It's quite predictable that this gold Marchesa will own a red carpet sooner or later and Stacy kept it simple and easy and still glamorous and stunning. What better way to accessorize this number than keeping it on the side of George Clooney himself. Best Accessory indeed!!

More Best-Dressed:

Cameron Diaz in Gucci Premiere nude dress, Salvatore Ferragamo blush satin peep-toe pumps and Tiffany & Co. diamond jewelry.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad dress, Salvatore Ferragamo silver mirrored minaudiere (Resort 12 collection), Jimmy Choo Sugar platform sandals and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood one-shoulder black sequin gown, Jimmy Choo New Linda platform sandals and Chanel jewelries.

Rooney Mara in custom-made Givenchy Haute Couture and Givenchy cream nappa leather sandals and Fred Leighton ring

Worst Dressed

Angelina Jolie in an Atelier Versace dress
Angie usually tops my list of best-dressed celebrities, but this time she failed to impress me with that black velvet number, plus the foot out, knee out, thigh out drama. What was she thinking?Epic Fail.

Melissa Leo in Reem Acra
I just don't get this outfit, too busy looking. The collared neckline plus, the bow belt plus the slit and the sequins. Messy, messy, messy. Not to mention the fit and the purse that doesn't match the outfit at all and the pose. Disaster!!!

Busy Philipps in a Dolce & Gabbana dress, Brian Atwood Goldy fuchsia satin pumps, Irene Neuwirth earrings.
I recognize this girl from Cougar Town and White Chics. Busy is her name, busy is her outfit. I usually appreciate a splash of color on an outfit but this time she had it badly. The Dolce and Gabbana dress is too bold a statement already and need to tone it down with laid back accessories. And I must say, this dress is not Oscar appropriate.

Shailene Woodley in Valentino Haute Couture dress (S/S 12 collection), Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and Harry Winston jewelries.
This girl is just my age and dresses up like a tranny already. This dress is nice on it's own(I can see Helen Mirren rocking this dress) but if worn by a young girl, it just wont work. Dress your age next time!!!

Natalie Portman in Vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, Charlotte Olympia bag, Christian Dior shoes and Harry Winston jewelries.
I adore Vintage but Natalie just wore it the wrong way. I don't get the V-shaped cluster necklace and the earrings and the bag together. Too cheap looking and cluttered.

Agree or not? Tell me what you think?

Kritiqued- Prada Fall/Winter 2012-2013 Collection

It's show season again in the Fashion World, so, I decided to search on the web to feel like I'm in the shows and feeling to my spirit that I am part of it, specially big brandsand do my Kritique job also.

Prada, has long been a fashion fore-runner on trends, fresh perspectives, and on what's going to be the "It" each season. Their SS 2011 collection has left a strong appeal on the fashion scene all over the globe, overdoing the norms and bringing a new and unique take on what has to be "the trend" perishing what has to be a "boring" season and dictating several seasons' trends after that. This season, a new take on a modern woman dominated the Prada show, an image of what is said to be "the avatar of fashion's digital age" depicting "virtual princesses" with power and strength to win every fashion battle they're about to face. Armed with extreme style and dressing up in layers of prints, black with enormous jewels in the collars and sleeves, and red and violets all over, Prada's modern woman is ready to conquer the World.

I specifically love the silhouettes and Prada's take on current trends, such as art decos and androgynous dressing. Also the accessories are to die for and a must have for every fearless fashionista out there who of course can afford and is ready to stand out among the rest. Anyway, here is some of Prada's key pieces From their F/W 12-13 collection.. Enjoy!

Prada's Shoes will be a big hit for this year's fall. A must have indeed!

Beating the Summer Heat Figura Way!!

Last week, a friend contacted me and asked if I can style a shoot for his models. I was hesitant at first because one, I didn't have enough time to prepare, two, it was hard to pull out outfits and lastly, I wasn't at all ready and I don't have time given the heck of my new call center job(I need money). But out of mere randomness and extreme passion for fashion and boredom maybe, I asked him to send me pictures of the models and wait 'til I decide and come up with a theme for the shoot, also I asked him who the photographer will be and I was thrilled to know that the photographer is almost as young as I am(just a year older) and accomplished quite well enough and is very promising(way to go for both of us). So, without second thoughts, I said yes to the shoot considering the models are good-looking, young and very promising as well. Spring-summer 2012 trends like prints-over-brights, ab peek-a-boo and the white minimalism trends and sexy androgynous dominate the whole vibe of the shoot while still holding back making it age appropriate and easy to wear considering that we are in the tropics. It was super fun doing the shoot, the whole vibe of the day was just us playing and doing dress-up and taking fun photographs but still professionally done and level of expertise is visible and is possessed by everybody in the shoot. It is really good to work with fun people with same passion, same interests and same ideas most especially same age with same vibe.
